Local digital marketer to be recognized by Professional Women of Finger Lakes and Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce for her dedication to the betterment of women.
September 25, 2015 - (Victor, NY) Wendy K. Emerson has been nominated for consideration of the 2015 ATHENA Award through local group Professional Women of the Finger Lakes and the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes women not only for their professional leadership, but for their work in celebration and developing other women.
Emerson received the nomination because of her dedicated service and leadership at Celebrate Recovery at Crosswinds Wesleyan Church in Canandaigua, NY. Emerson has been serving this ministry for the past 8 years, and continues to teach and lead women through a Christ-Centered recovery program.
“Celebrate Recovery is more than just addiction recovery, it’s about learning how to do life the right way, acknowledging that we all have hurts,” Emerson expressed of the ministry. “I feel so blessed to be connected to women to want to live authentic lives and learn how to process hurts in a very healthy and safe environment that opens them up to more hope for the future than perhaps they’ve ever known before,” she continued.
Emerson knows of the struggles of past hurts, and now speaks very openly about her past struggles, in hopes that others will make the choice to change and live better lives.
She has also enjoyed many successes in her career of the last several decades as a project manager, social media expert and marketer. She has developed award winning websites, blogs and marketing campaign strategies for small, mid-size and global companies over the past several decades.
"I am delighted to have Wendy as a part of our equaTEK team and feel she is an excellent candidate for the Athena Award," stated Ed Hanchett, co-founder of equaTEK. He went on to say, "Wendy demonstrates dedication and excellence in her work with our clients and for equaTEK as an organization. She helps unite the women at our workplace with coordinated lunches, outings, and outside activities and demonstrates incredible compassion for others through her tireless giving in ministry and mission focused events. Since joining equaTEK, Wendy has spearheaded events for the benefit of the Open Door Mission and Embrace Your Sisters, activities that otherwise would not have happened. I am confident that Wendy readily demonstrates the characteristics required of this award but more importantly, the characteristics of a wonderful person."
Canandaigua was the first city in New York State to join the ATHENA movement in 1985, and this year will celebrate it’s 30th year on November 20th at the Awards Dinner.
